1.Different kinds of mass media
Massmedia refers to a diverse array of media technologies that reach a largeaudience via mass communication. The technologies through which thiscommunication takes place include a variety of outlets.
Fromthe point of view of sociology, the media are social institutions engaged inthe collection, processing, analysis and dissemination of information on amassive scale. From political science, the media is also a way of politicalpropaganda, agitation and political manipulation of the population. In ourtime, the media play a huge role in the formation of values. According to theresearch, TV occupies one of the leading places in the strength of educationalinfluence.
Previously, mankind had few sources of information. But to our time, a huge number ofdifferent types of media have accumulated.
Iwill introduce 3 categories of media: print media, electronic media and new ageMedia.
1.1Print media
Shortlyspeaking, this is news printed on paper. Before the invention of typewriters, people manually copied entire books. It was very difficult. today everyone canprint whatever they want on a printer at home or in printing houses. I love howit not harmful to eyes.
Printmedia contains: newspapers, magazines, booklets and brochures, fliers andbooks.
Newspapers:Newspapers are the most popular form of print media, and have been the mostpreferred type of media, with a large audience, until electronic communicationappeared. This is a publication containing news and information andadvertising, usually printed on low-cost paper called newsprint. In the earlydays of the newspaper were the only media. A newspaper carries all kinds ofcommunication like: sports, food, entertainment, fashion, finances, politics, advertisements. Newspapers are an important platform of mass communicationwhere electronic media fails to reach. But with the Internet, the popularity ofnewspapers has fallen. In our city, popular newspapers areMarshrutka and Gornyak.
Magazines:Magazines are another type of popular culture print media. This is a periodicalpublication containing a variety of articles, generally financed by advertisingor purchase by readers. Magazines topics like: business, finance, gadgets,self-help, lifestyle, beauty, fashion, travel, etc. Magazines are publishedweekly, monthly, quarterly, or annually, and many of them are sold all over theworld. Also, life of magazines longer that newspaper. My mother orders beautymagazines such as Avon and Oriflame.
1.2Electronic media
Electronicmedia is the media, that needs electrical connection. This type of mediarevolutionized the information system. At first, people used animals to sendmessages. It took time to deliver that, and the chance of spoiling the messagewas very big. Electronic media has revolutionized the information system. Noweveryone can be aware himself with current information and updates. So many TVchannels in the country and internet websites justify the importance andadvantages of electronic media where everyone has a freedom to exchange hisview point freely. This media includes: television, radio, computers, telephones, etc.
Television:TV can be seen and heard here and now. For many people it is impossible toimagine a life without their television, and it is a big advertising platform, where franchises can pay for advertisements to show millions of people, thusbringing in more business for the franchise owner. This category also includeselectronic media like movies, CDs and DVDs. In our city there is a channelGTS which shows local news.
Radio:some time ago, radio was the main way of communication and entertainment.Families would gather around the round the radio and listen to the variousshows. But radio lost its popularity with the boom of television. Nowadays, the main listeners of the radio are the drivers. My father, when he drives acar, listens to Dorozhnoye radio.
1.3New age Media
Newage Media: New media are used to describe the content using various forms ofelectronic communications that have become possible through the use of computertechnology. With the Internet we are now enjoying the benefits of hightechnology mass media. This content can be viewed on any device, and it allowspeople to interact with content in real time. This content can be viewed on anydevice and provides way for people to interact with the content in real-timewith the inclusion of user comments and making it easy for people to share thecontent online and in social with friends and co-workers.
