Цель урока:ознакомить учащихся с историей возникновения праздника, его символами итрадициями; на примере известных влюблённых пар показать, что любовь – 

                  это самое красивое и светлое чувство, которое делает человека счастливым икрасивым в свих поступках.

Teacher: Today our lesson will be devoted to the most romanticholiday – St. Valentine’s Day. It’s a holiday of sweethearts.

                       Some people just know

                       Right from the start,

                       How to bring joy

                       To another heart.

 

                       Some people know

                       How to love and forgive

                       And they do such nice things

                       Every day that they live.

 

Valentine’sDay is a special time when people tell each other that they love them and careabout them.  Do you know anything about the legends of how St. Valentine’s Daybegan?

    When the Roman Emperor Claudius II needed soldiers, he made a law againstmarrying, because he thought that marriage made men want to stay at homeinstead of fighting wars.

    A priest named Valentine, seeing the love of young couples, married themsecretly. He was exposed and condemned to death. But even in prison, Valentineshows his love for everyone. His jailor had a young daughter who was blind.Valentine restored her eyesight. Just before his death, on February 14th,he sent her a farewell message signed “From your Valentine”

     There are a lot of other legends and no one knows for sure whether any of themare true.

Pupil: It happened in 1415. A French Duke was captured bythe English in a battle and put into prison. He was put in the Tower of London.There he wrote Valentine poems. It was Charles, Duke of Orleans.

       The custom of sending Valentine’s cards in Europe started in the 18thcentury.

          

 Teacher:Before Valentine’s cards appeared, people had used different ways to drawattention of their sweethearts. One of the ways was Love confessions.

Nowyou will hear the example of such a confession.

Youare so beautiful; I have to confess that I’ve never seen a lovelier creature.Your skin is delicate and soft, your waist is so slender. Girl: My heart is sinking while I’m listening to you. Youtreat me like I’m princess. I think only about you. I can’t sleep. I can’t eat.All my thoughts are only about you. Tell that you love me, just say that youneed me.

Teacher: Except making a declaration of love you can confessabout your feelings with the help of Valentine’s symbols. Which of them do youknow? Your task now is to match the symbols to their meanings.
